The Art of Slowing Down: Why Hibiscus and Chamomile Belong in Every Tea Collection
There are teas that wake you up, teas that warm you through, and then there are teas that invite you to pause. Hibiscus and chamomile fall firmly into that last category, and at Tea The World, we are excited to be preparing both of these botanicals as loose leaf additions to our collection. We have already worked with the supplier and tested them with tea drinkers, and they are coming to the shop soon.
What Makes Hibiscus So Special?
The hibiscus flower has been treasured for centuries across cultures, from Egypt and Sudan, where hibiscus tea is known as Karkade and served at celebrations, to Mexico, where chilled Agua de Jamaica is an everyday favorite.
Hibiscus Loose Leaf Tea
Our hibiscus delivers a deep crimson hue and a bright, tart flavor reminiscent of fresh cranberries, with a gently floral finish. Enjoy it hot as a warming ritual, or brew it over ice for a striking iced tea that is as beautiful as it is delicious.
Highlights:
- Pure dried hibiscus, with no artificial flavors
- Naturally caffeine-free, so you can enjoy it any time of day
- Rich in anthocyanins, the plant pigments behind its ruby color
- Brilliant color, stunning hot or iced
- Pairs beautifully with honey, mint, or ginger
Hibiscus can interact with some blood pressure and diabetes medications and is commonly advised against during pregnancy, so check with your healthcare provider if those apply to you. For brewing tips and what research does and does not show, read our hibiscus tea guide. Until it arrives, you can taste hibiscus in our Raspberry Hibiscus Oolong, which contains caffeine from its oolong base.
Chamomile Loose Leaf Tea
Meet your new evening ritual. Our loose leaf chamomile is selected for its aroma, golden color, and gentle character, for a cup that is calming to make and lovely to drink.
With its soft apple-honey sweetness and floral notes, loose leaf chamomile gives you the whole flower in your infuser and full control over the strength of each cup.
Highlights:
- Loose leaf chamomile flowers
- Naturally caffeine-free, perfect for evenings
- A traditional wind-down tea; enjoy it as part of a relaxing routine rather than a sleep treatment
- Smooth, honey-sweet flavor with a gentle floral finish
- Pairs beautifully with lavender, lemon, or a touch of honey
People with ragweed or daisy-family allergies should be cautious with chamomile. Prefer chamomile in sachets today? Our Egypt Simply Chamomile is available now, and our guide on how long to steep chamomile tea covers brewing.
