Tax Policy – TeaTheWorld

Last updated: March 9, 2026

This Tax Policy explains how sales tax, duties, and related charges are handled on orders placed through TeaTheWorld.com for customers in the United States. This policy applies only to purchases made directly on TeaTheWorld.com and does not override tax rules on third-party marketplaces such as Walmart, Amazon, or Etsy, which may collect and remit taxes on your orders directly.

1. Sales tax collection (United States)

TeaTheWorld is based in San Antonio, Texas. We currently collect sales tax on eligible orders shipped to addresses in Texas and any other U.S. states where we are required by law to collect tax due to physical or economic nexus. Sales tax is calculated at checkout based on the shipping address, product taxability, and the applicable state and local tax rates.

If we do not collect sales tax on your order, you may still be responsible for paying any applicable use tax directly to your state or local tax authority. Please consult your tax advisor or your state’s tax agency for more information.

2. Product taxability (tea and related items)

The taxability of food and beverage items, including tea, varies by state and sometimes by locality. In some jurisdictions, qualifying food items are exempt or taxed at a reduced rate; in others, they may be fully taxable. TeaTheWorld classifies its products according to applicable state rules. Any required sales tax will be automatically calculated and shown at checkout when you place your order.

3. Tax on shipping and handling

Some states require sales tax to be charged on shipping and handling fees when the associated products are taxable, while other states do not. Where required by law, shipping and handling charges will be included in the taxable amount and reflected in the tax calculation at checkout.

4. International orders

At this time, TeaTheWorld ships only within the United States. If we begin offering international shipping in the future, any applicable import duties, VAT/GST, and brokerage or customs fees will either be included in the price at checkout or clearly disclosed before you complete your order. This section will be updated to reflect our international tax and duty practices at that time.

5. Orders placed on Walmart, Amazon, Etsy, and other marketplaces

When you purchase TeaTheWorld products through third-party marketplaces (for example, Walmart Marketplace), those platforms may be legally required to calculate, collect, and remit sales tax on your order as “marketplace facilitators.” In those cases, tax is handled by the marketplace according to its own policies, and any tax amounts will appear on your marketplace order confirmation, not on TeaTheWorld.com.

If you have questions about the tax charged on a marketplace order, please contact that marketplace’s customer support and reference your order number. TeaTheWorld cannot modify the tax charged by marketplace platforms.

6. Tax-exempt and wholesale customers

If you are a reseller or otherwise qualify for tax-exempt purchasing, please contact us before placing your order at support@TeatheWorld.com with your valid resale or exemption certificate. Once your documentation is reviewed and approved and your customer account is updated, eligible orders placed under that account may be processed without sales tax where permitted by law.

7. Changes to this policy

Tax laws and regulations can change over time. TeaTheWorld may update this Tax Policy periodically to reflect new requirements or changes to our business. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when the policy was most recently revised.

If you have questions about how tax is calculated on your TeaTheWorld.com order, please contact us at Support@TeatheWorld.com before completing your purchase.
